Choosing between single vs dual motor frames for stability and smooth motion
I’ve been trying to pick out a frame for a desk I’m building, and the whole “single motor vs dual motor” thing has me stuck. I’m not trying to load the desk with heavy gear, but I do tend to lean on it a lot when I’m thinking or working, and my old DIY setup wobbles like crazy. I’m wondering if the dual motor setups really feel that much smoother or if it’s only noticeable when the desk is under a big load. Anyone here messed around with both types?

I’ve used both styles, and the difference was more noticeable than I expected. The single motor frame I had worked fine at first, but once I added a larger monitor and some speakers, it started to lag a bit on one side when going up. Later I upgraded to a dual motor setup from https://www.progressiveautomations.com/collections/standing-desk-frames, and the motion felt way more balanced. It didn’t jerk or hesitate, even when I leaned on the surface while adjusting the height. If you’re picky about stability, dual motor might save you some frustration in the long run.
